New Commemorative Coins Issued in Ukraine: 1025th Anniversary of Christianization of Kyivan Rus

On July 3rd, the National Bank of Ukraine put into circulation 3 new commemorative coins dedicated to the 1025th Anniversary of Christianization of Kyivan Rus, having the face values of 100, 20 and 5 hryvnia.

 The commemorative coins celebrate the introduction of Christianity as the state religion, which happened in the time of Prince Volodymyr the Great. According to the chronicles, the mass baptism of the Kyivan population took place in 988 at the spot where the Pochaina River fell into the Dnieper River. After this, Christianity became a dominant religion in the Kyivan Rus.

Ukraine New Commemorative Coin Dedicated to Maternity

On 18 June, the National Bank of Ukraine put into circulation the commemorative coin “Maternity” of 5 hryvnias.

The initiative of creating this coin was for promoting maternity in Ukraine and helping the initiatives of improving the health and well being of mothers.
